It’s Official: Michael Curry is the new Detroit Pistons head coach
Word just came in that Michael Curry will be the new head coach of the Detroit Pistons. Joe Dumars and the Detroit Pistons are expected to make the formal announcement at a press conference on Tuesday 6-10-08.
It is reported that Curry agreed to a three year garunteed deal at 2.5 million per season with a team option on a fourth year.
This is a move that was all but a formality after the firing of Flip.
Honestly I don’t think anyone else was ever really a candidate. Our favorite Bill Laimbeer was never considered and Terry Porter just got himself the job in Phoenix.

I’m glad Michael Curry’s the new head coach. He’s a proven leader, and a great guy. Being president of the Players’ Association also says a lot. He also has played with 4 of the Pistons’ current 5 starters, and was a part of the first year of our current 6 year Eastern Conference Finals runs (with Chauncey, Rip, and Tayshaun). He played with Rasheed in Washington. I see the Pistons working well with him, and respecting him.
Now that the coaching position is set, it’ll be interesting to see where the summer heads with the players. I wonder if Lindsey Hunter will get an office job with the Pistons, or if he has one more year left in him as an outstanding defender.

I agree about Curry he should work out well for the Pistons. I think its time for Lindsey to official join our coaching staff. Let Stuckey and Afflalo get those minutes it will alone benefit us down the line.
