#14 Most Important Piston: Walter Herrmann (PLEASE EXCUSE MY HANDS!)

Expect alot of Well Dressed Nights from this Walter.
What’s Going on World? John W. Davis here. You know what? I honestly appreciate Walter Herrmann. I really do. He tries extremely hard, and actually has a decent inside/out game. But Alas, he is ranked Number 14 on the Pistons Player Rankings because he is bait. Trade Bait. His 1.8 million dollar contract, pairs nicely with Kwame Brown’s 4 million dollar contract and Rasheed’s or Chauncey 12-13 million dollars. That’s 17-18 million dollars which would work great in a trade for a max contract guy like Carmelo, or T-MAC or whoever else you can think of.
Joe D, I see you. This is about re-signing a tradeable commodity because everyone knows Walter Herrmann is a capable SF backup. I wish I believed we signed him because we really wanted or needed him but I’m no fool. Basketball is Business. Joe D is the President of the Detroit Pistons Basketball Business. His first priority is to win, which in turn will make all of the front office employees happy because they can continue to fill their pockets. This is about money.
Maybe Walter Herrmann can prove me wrong and be a 15 minute a night player like Jarvis Hayes was last season. My heart, mind and gut says no because his playing time limits the development of the Bench Babies. Herrmann is old. He is 29. Is Walter Herrmann apart of the Detroit Pistons future? Will he honestly be on our team five years from now? I know Rodney Stuckey will. Amir Johnson, probably so. Even young Walter Sharpe will probably still be wearing the Pistons red white and blue five in 2013.
I respect you Mr. Herrmann because you know basketball is a business and you are willing to still be apart of it. You don’t know your playing time or even if you will finish off the season as a Piston. Wherever you go. Good luck to you.
Peace,
John W. Davis

Nice, John. I’m looking forward to what you have in store for the rest of this series — particularly the top 5.
Did Walter lose a bet to be dunking in his undies in that video? Heh…

I’d say that, since Herrmann was re-signed to a one-year deal and would have to approve of any trade the Pistons tried to include him in, Dumars was not thinking of him as potential trade fodder when he offered him a deal. I’m sure Joe hasn’t forgotten that Devean George incident from last season.

I know right the Walter Herrmmann video is ridiculous. I found that and was like I have to post that even though it has nothing to do with anything im writing about.

Mastermind. I like the name. I think once Walter Herrmann is not getting playing time he will approve a trade to simply get of the bench. He still wants to prove he is a mid level expection player and he can’t do that on the Pistons. Our Bench is in a Youth Movement and he is not young nor in our long term plans.
Why bring in a new guy who doesnt know the deal. Herrmann has a half year under his belt with Pistons basketball he is good veteran to have around to play IF necessary.
