Jason Maxiell: Is he worth 5 million a year?
Pistons Offer Maxiell $15M Extension Over Three Years
The Pistons hope to have a contract extension worked out with Jason Maxiell before the end of training camp.
They have offered Maxiell a three-year, $15 million deal with a team option for a fourth season.
Maxiell is one of a handful of players from the 2005 draft class to be offered a contract extension.
“It’s not really important right now,” Maxiell said. “I’m just going day by day and see how it goes.”

What’s Going On World?
John W. Davis here. I think Maxiell is worth more than his 5 million dollar a year contract offer. Much more. If the Pistons can get him for that price it’s a steal.
I think Maxiell could be worth 8-9 million dollars on the free agent market. Bad teams are always willing to over pay for big men.
Although Maxiell comes in at 6′7, I think with 30-35 minutes a game he could post the following stat line:
13 points 8 rebounds 2 blocks
I think that’s worth 8 million.
How much do you think Maxiell is worth?
Peace,
John W. Davis

Maxiell is probably worth 8 million as you said. That’s about how much I’d say.
But 5 million a year is a lot, too. At least money-wise. I hope he’s happy with that offer and takes it, staying with the Pistons for at least three more years. He’s a beast. I wouldn’t want to see him leave the team.

Well, he still needs to work on his jumper, free throw shooting, and develop a dominant post-move to warrant a starting spot. I think 5-6 million is about right for him. Besides, at the end of this contract he can really cash in.

I think Maxey is worth what Joe D. is offering.
In fact given the fact that NBA ticket sales this year are way down from last year and with the NBA offices in NY laying off about 10% of their people I would say that if Maxiell waits until next summer he will get offered no more than $4.5 million tops.
Maxey be a team guy and take the fair offer now.

TADOne if he never gets 30 minutes a game with the Pistons I dont think he will every prove he is worth more than 6 million a year.
He will be 29 three years from now.
A 29 year old full of potential is not that enticing and definitely not worth much more than the mid-livel exception.

In that case, he can try and hold out for more, but he will be a restricted free agent, so we can match any offer. I honestly don’t think anyone would offer him much more.

I think Maxiell is worth 1 milllllion trilllllion dolllllars. HAHAHAHAHAHA! LOL J/K!
John W. Davis October 15th at 11:36 am
HAHA Mike. If Maxiell is worth 1 million trillion dollars.
Amir is worth 1 google million trillion dollars times 25!
Mike Watson October 15th at 1:14 pm
HAHA!!! John are u kidding me! Man Amir is not dat good he sucks! LOL! And Amir is no Dennis Rodman at all I’ll have to see it to believe it…
John W. Davis October 15th at 8:54 pm
I never said he was Dennis Rodman. You know I didn’t say that.
Im just saying 5 years from now he will be a Top 15 Big Man in the NBA.
That’s pretty freaking good and he still only be 26!
Ryan October 15th at 10:05 pm
Say it, John!
Cuz I KNOW he didn’t just say Amir sucks!
John W. Davis October 16th at 12:35 pm
Haha we disagree to agree. We will all love him when he is sweet!
TADOne October 16th at 4:11 pm
In 5 years?! Right, he’ll only be 26, but I say 3 years tops. Getting into the Top 15 big men isn’t very hard anymore. There are only like 4 true centers left.
John W. Davis October 16th at 5:45 pm
Haha I can make “in 5 years” comments about Amir thats why I love him.
Mike October 16th at 6:00 pm
I figure based upon what Amir is worth Sleepy Walt got to be worth 5 Google gazillion trillion just on his offense allow.
From that subtract 1 Google gazillion trillion until he learns to play Pistons type defense so right now
Sleepy Walt is worth 4 Google gazillion trillion
Ryan October 16th at 8:29 pm
“Sleepy Walt”?
Don’t you think that’s a bit harsh?
John October 16th at 9:21 pm
Come on Mike from Cali that is harsh. Walt gave Pistonscast an exclusive interview give him some respect.
Let the past be the past.
John October 16th at 9:22 pm
Walt is apart of the Pistonscast family.
He is our adopted cousin on the Pistons.
Mike Watson October 17th at 11:19 am
HAHA!!! John I was messin wit cha… Buttttt wit all this hype you guys are puttin on Amir I’m ready to see him in action.
An John W. Davis if dis man doesn’t live up to the standards u gon be in alotta trouble buddy HAHA!!
How bout giving him a multi zillion katrillion dollar contract if he does ball out!
Mike October 17th at 12:32 pm
I thought about that nickname for Walt and I have been one of those who have opposed people making continual references to Walt’s narcolepsy problem.
However, as you may or may not know there used to be a pretty fair baller to say the least in the NBA nick named Sleepy Floyd
================================
Legendary Performances: Eric “Sleepy” Floyd
Sleepy’s 29 points in the fourth and 39 for the half showed he was wide awake against the Lakers.

==========================
So I am now calling Walt Sleepy Walt in honor of Sleepy Floyd. I guess more accurately I could call him Sleepy Sharpe but I like like Sleepy Walt better.
Mike October 17th at 2:46 pm
I have thought about some more and I think Walt “Sleepy” Sharpe is better just like we had Eric “Sleepy” Floyd.
John W. Davis October 18th at 12:52 pm
Sleepy Floyd was 6′3
Walt Sharpe is 6′9 How about “Walt Smooth”?
