Chauncey Billups for Allen Iverson?

TRADING PLACES?

TRADING PLACES?

I WANT TO BE IN YOUR SHOES!

I WANT TO BE IN YOUR SHOES!

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith is reporting that the Denver Nuggets are expected to trade Allen Iverson to the Detroit Pistons for Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess (and Cheick Samb *new information)

-STEPHEN A., WHY DO YOU SCREAM ALL THE TIME?!!!

Smith is citing Pistons team sources.

The report, which just aired on ‘SportsCenter’, said Iverson told Smith he wants to play for a contender. This is the beginning of Iverson’s third season as a Nugget.

-Denver, don’t you want Stephon Marbury instead?  I hear he is on the market…

This deal is not yet finalized.

Billups is a Denver native and played his college hoops at Colorado.

* The Boston Globe reports that Iverson is telling people in Denver he expects to be packing his bags soon.

-Boston, Are you scared of the current Pistons?

*The Rocky Mountain News says Iverson would be a perfect scoring complement to Tayshaun and Rasheed.

-Don’t they know we have Rip Hamilton?  The last time I checked he has lead the team in scoring what 4-5 years or so.

Honestly I don’t even know what to say?  What do you think?

I’ll miss you Cheick Samb!

Joe November 3rd at 2:01 pm

As Sixers fan, I approve of this trade.

Marcus November 3rd at 2:11 pm

i will hope this might be a joke!!!

Marcus November 3rd at 2:18 pm

“The Denver Nuggets have agreed to a deal that would send Allen Iverson to the Pistons in exchange for Chauncey Billups and Antonio McDyess, sources have told TNT analyst David Aldridge.

There is one sticking point to the deal, though. McDyess does not want to go to Denver, and a source close to him says “he will not put on a Nuggets uniform” and may opt to retire.

Because of McDyess’s objection, the Nuggets may waive the mandatory physical each player in a trade must take in order for the league to approve any deal. McDyess may be seeking a buyout of the remainder of his contract (two years, $13.6 million).

The deal has not been finalized but the teams are holding a conference call with the league.”

Oh my gott, it’s truth! I will miss mcdyess, i hoped he could win the titel with the pistons!

The Trade of CB was only a question of time…. :-(

Steve November 3rd at 2:30 pm

I love this trade!
I’m going to miss CB sure, but we might be able to get LeBron now!!

Billups still has a whopping 4 years and 50 million dollars still on his contract.
Iverson only has $20 million and one year left.

If Joe Dumars lets Iverson (and maybe Sheed) walk after this year, then the Pistons are going to have a ton of cap space for the next two summers.
They’ll be able to be in the running for at least one, if not two, superstar players like LeBron, Chris Bosh, and Dwyane Wade.

Dumars is basically trading a 32 year old PG for a one year rental of Iverson and the chance to get LeBron. Not bad.

TADOne November 3rd at 2:34 pm

John, i’m so shocked by this i’m not even sure what to think. Iverson is my favorite player, so I should be happy that he is joining my favorite team……right?? Tell me i’m right, please!

Steve: That is assuming one of those players would consider playing in Detroit. If not, then it is Finals-or-Bust.

Steve November 3rd at 2:39 pm

TADOne:

That is true, but at least know Detroit will be able to enter the discussion. As it was they had no chance of acquiring a high profile player.

And I have faith that Joe D will be able to get at least one superstar.

And don’t forget we have a stud in Stuckey!!

Darian November 3rd at 3:04 pm

oh my gosh i am so shocked…

im gonna miss chauncey so much

:(

Marcus November 3rd at 3:19 pm

if mcdyess resign with the pistons, it is really a nice deal….

chris bosh and lamar will be free agents after the season… *g*

John W. Davis November 3rd at 3:28 pm

@Steve get Lebron really? You are getting ahead of yourself lol.

John W. Davis November 3rd at 3:29 pm

@Darian who do you like better now? The Pistons or the Nuggets?

John W. Davis November 3rd at 3:30 pm

@TAD Im having mixed feelings. I was talking to my friend named Paul and he said we should start Stuckey, AI, and Tayshaun meaning Rip comes off the bench.

You know I almost went crazy

Marcus November 3rd at 3:36 pm

Sorry for mistake…. bosh won’t be free agent next jear… i’am so confused about the trade… *g*

Ryan November 3rd at 3:58 pm

This is crazy, though Iverson’s a great player. He’s a shooting guard, though — the question now is if he’s going to play the point.

John W. Davis November 3rd at 4:15 pm

Honestly Ryan I think we are just going to play two Shooting Guards and forget it.

***I really value having a point guard but maybe this is a chance for Tayshaun to step up and run the offense!

Marcus November 3rd at 4:22 pm

i think so. putting rip on the bench will cause further damage to the (formerly working) team chemistry. So Stuckey will come from the bench!

What about Iversons Gameplay…. Normally he takes 20 or more shots…. his defense isn’t good…
Will AI match with the Pistons? I really hope he will be a PART of the pistons….

John November 3rd at 4:34 pm

If Iverson takes 20 shots a game we wont be good.

He has to play team ball. I dont know if he will.

Mike Watson November 3rd at 4:37 pm

OMG!!!! Im excited but at the same time i’m a lil skeptical about this deal. What position is he gon play PG? He’s not proven there. Of course like John said what about ma boy “RIP CITY”??

As long as it gets us another ring I dont care what Currey and Joe D. decide to do!

Joe D is the man indeed!!

John November 3rd at 4:56 pm

Tayshaun is the New Point Guard!

Ryan November 3rd at 5:09 pm

New graphic on the Pistons home page, too, for ticket sales — AI’s first home game will be against Boston.

Darian November 3rd at 5:12 pm

I like the pistons more.. its gonna be really hard.. i guess i will just have to .. um idk… lol ugh! but yes i love the pistons more!

John W. Davis November 3rd at 5:20 pm

Are you sure Darain. I sense a little bit of hesitation lol.

Stick with the Pistons we will go places in the next few years!

Richard November 3rd at 5:47 pm

Yessir this is such a sweet trade, chauncey doesn’t even care that he was traded i guess that just shows how much he cares.

Ryan November 3rd at 5:58 pm

Where does it say anywhere that Chauncey doesn’t care?

Steve November 3rd at 6:05 pm

OK, maybe not Lebron….but a superstar for sure!!

Richard November 3rd at 7:05 pm

Chuancey doesn’t care cause in the summer he wanted to be traded to denver but the pistons couldn’t get a deal done but now that it happened he said that he was happy to be going home and that he wasn’t opposed to being traded. He didn’t say anything and he didn’t even thank detroit for the oppurtunity that we gave him.

Julian November 3rd at 7:18 pm

I like this trade a lot. Sheed and AI are fiery - they give us that edge we need and I think AI will be able to give up the me-first for team-first philosophy that’s required to get us a ring. He also provides us with the go-to scorer when we have one of those dry spells and in the 4th as C-Bills wasn’t fulfilling that role as we may have wanted him to. What I really like is that this gets us back to our Bad Boy roots and that there will be a menacing edge back in the Palace. I am optimistic.

Steve November 3rd at 7:21 pm

Pistons give Rip 3 year extension worth over $30 million.

Busy day for Joe D.

Ryan November 3rd at 7:31 pm

Richard: I’m asking, do you have any sources of any of this?

Because in the summer, Joe talked with Chauncey, and Chauncey said he wanted to be a Piston.

Ryan November 3rd at 7:41 pm

Overall, it’s going to be a trade of Samb and Billups for Iverson (and half of McDyess’ contract to the Nuggets).

McDyess should be back.

If you want a room full of people who have no NBA knowledge and just like to shout things, insult people, and think they’re right 110% of the time, go to ESPN’s boards, lol.

John W. Davis November 3rd at 7:48 pm

Rip just got signed to a 3 year extension!

Im so excited!

John W. Davis November 3rd at 7:49 pm

Young Ryan lol leave Lil Richard alone!

Chauncey is gone, that’s all that matters!

Steve November 3rd at 8:28 pm

What number is Iverson going to wear?
He’s always worn #3, but that’s what Stuckey wears.

Ryan November 3rd at 10:37 pm

I wasn’t saying anyone here is like the people on ESPN’s boards, that wasn’t my intent if that’s the way it was taken. I was just saying that, after going to those boards, that’s the conclusion I’ve come to. (Though I’ve come to that conclusion many moons ago, and should’ve never clicked that board, haha.) If it was taken that I was comparing anyone here to the likeness I described, please realize that wasn’t my intent at all.

Ryan November 3rd at 10:41 pm

Maybe Iverson will wear #33?

Catharine November 3rd at 11:14 pm

I guess I’m ok with the trade, just a little shocked still. I’m reserving my judgement until I’ve seen a few games.
As long as he listens to MC, plays well with Rip, Sheed, Tay, and the kids, and comes to practice (I’m surprised no one has mentioned this yet), I’ll be happy. Oh, and he better help us to a championship, or he’s traded.

John W. Davis November 3rd at 11:27 pm

I think Stuckey should keep the Number 3.

Iverson is a little guy. He needs to wear a single digit jersey.

Darian November 3rd at 11:41 pm

i love love love the
DEEEETROIT PISTONS NOT ANYBODY ELSE!

DEEEETROIT BASKETBALL

Steve November 4th at 12:50 am

Apparently Stuckey is going to talk it over w/ him.

I think Stuck gives up his jersey. I mean, it’s Iverson!!

Mike Watson November 4th at 12:59 am

Yeah AI is a future Hall of famer…Stuck is in his second year. If he gave up his number it would show alotta pride and respect for Iverson and would say alot about the young Stuckey.

Besides Stuckey can make a new number that has never been worn by a great PISTON hot like number 2 or somethin. Been already had 3 before him.

He’s good enuf to make his own legacy.

Mike Watson November 4th at 12:59 am

An oh yeah RIP CITY BABY!!!! YESSIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

John November 4th at 1:09 am

I think he is already showing respect by wearing the Number 3. Iverson knows he is only gonna be here for a little bit, just pick another number.

He could wear 23!

John November 4th at 1:10 am

@ Catharine:

We Talkin’ Bout Practice

“Its easy to talk about, its easy to sum it up when you just talk about practice. We sittin’ in here, I’m supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talkin’ about practice. I mean listen, we talkin bout practice. Not a game, not a game, not a game. We talkin bout practice. Not a game, not a, not a, not the game that I go out there and die for, and play every game like its my last. Not the game. We talkin’ bout practice, man. I mean how silly is that? We talkin’ bout practice. I know I’m supposed to be there, I know I’m supposed to lead by example. I know that, and I’m not shovin’ it aside, you know, like it don’t mean anything. I know its important, I do. I honestly do. But we talkin’ bout practice, man. What are we talkin’ bout? Practice? We talkin’ bout practice man. We talk… We talkin’ bout practice. We talkin’ bout practice. We ain’t talkin’ bout the game, we talkin’ bout practice, man. When you come into the arena, and you see me play, you see me play, don’t you? You see me give everything I got, right? But we talkin’ bout practice right now. We talkin’ bout practice. (crowd laughs) Man look, I hear you, its funny to me too. I mean, its strange, its strange to me too. But we talkin’ bout practice man. We not even talkin’ bout the game, the actual game, when it matters. We talkin’ bout practice.”

-Allen Iverson

Ryan November 4th at 1:41 pm

Chuck Daly’s got the ole’ #2 retired, otherwise that’d be a cool one to see anyone in.

I’d like to see Stuckey keep the #3 personally, and have Iverson take another number.

Mike Watson November 4th at 2:12 pm

Oh yeah Ryan I forgot about that… Well how bout one of em takin #1 since Chaunce is outta town now?

Steve November 4th at 2:43 pm

I don’t know about that, since it’d be like he’s saying he’s Chauncey…or something like that.

What bout something like #6 or #7?

John November 4th at 3:11 pm

Iverson should wear the 2-3 like Jordan.

Do you know how sweet that Jersey would be.

Iverson
#23

John W. Davis November 4th at 6:42 pm

Its official Iverson is wearing Number 1

Richard November 4th at 7:57 pm

Ryan here is a quote
“coming back home to Denver, it’s sort of like coming full circle for him.”
Okay maybe I was kinda wrong but he definitley didn’t say anything that makes me think he gives detroit a second though after the trade went down so I probably exaggerated it a little, sorry.

Richard November 4th at 8:00 pm

we’re all pistons fans i was just shocked by the news and i expected a thanks from chauncey

John November 4th at 8:17 pm

Yeah but you know what Richard… Chauncey is probably a bit salty and mad. He is going hope but he knows Joe D gave up on him.

Mike Watson November 4th at 11:40 pm

Yep I called it…he’s wearing #1..

He’s the anti-Chaunce!!
