It’s Official Iverson is wearing Number 1!

Check out my man Matt at DBB with this story and much more:

Allen Iverson introduced by Joe Dumars

Allen Iverson isn’t only taking Chauncey Billups’ spot on the roster, he’s also wearing his old jersey number. No time to be sentimental, I suppose. For what it’s worth, Rodney Stuckey was apparently open to giving up his No. 3 but the NBA said a switch can only happen after the season (at which point there’s a good chance AI will no longer be in Detroit).

*AI was on WDFN:  Check out the whole interview, via DETPistons:

*Check out NBA.com,  AI relives his “We Talking Bout Practice”.

*Iverson quotes from MLive:

“I have done so many things in this league, as far a being an All-Star, a scoring champion, All-NBA first team, but I haven’t accomplished my number one goal, and that’s to win a championship.”

“Like I was telling Joe (Dumars) earlier today, I’m willing to sacrifice whatever I have to sacrifice to get it done. I’ve tried it my way plenty of my times. I’ve tried it different ways and it hasn’t been done. Once again, I have to look at myself, I have to look in the mirror at myself and think of things I can do to help us to win a championship. Maybe there are some things I have to change.

One thing is for sure, two things for certain, I’m going to do whatever the coach wants me to do on the basketball court. If he gives me an assignment, I’ll just try to carry it out to the fullest.”

——————————————————————–

I’m glad Stuckey still has his number 3.   Number 1 should look real good on Mr. Iverson.

Peace,

John W. Davis

We Talking Bout A New Show!

We Talkin’ Bout Practice

“Its easy to talk about, its easy to sum it up when you just talk about a new show.

We sittin’ in here, I’m supposed to be a host of Pistonscast, and we in here talkin’ about a new show.

I mean listen, we talkin bout a new show.

Not the other 71 shows, not the other 71 shows, not the other 71 shows. We talkin bout a new show. Not the other 71 shows, not a, not a, not the the other 71 shows that I go out there and die for, and host every show like its my last.

Not the other 71 shows. We talkin’ bout a new show, man. I mean how silly is that? We talkin’ bout a new show.

I know I’m supposed to have a new show out, I know I’m supposed to lead by example.

I know that, and I’m not shovin’ it aside, you know, like it don’t mean anything. I know its important, I do. I honestly do. But we talkin’ bout a new show, man.

What are we talkin’ bout? A New Show? We talkin’ bout a new show man. We talk… We talkin’ bout a new show. We talkin’ bout a new show. We ain’t talkin’ bout all the other 71 shows, we talkin’ bout a new show, man.

When you get on your computer, and you listen to our show, you hear a great show, don’t you? You hear us giving everything we got, right?

But we talkin’ bout a new show right now. We talkin’ bout a new show. (Richard laughs) Man look, I hear you, its funny to me too. I mean, its strange, its strange to me too. But we talkin’ bout a new show man. We not even talkin’ bout all the other 71 shows, the actual show, when it matters. We talkin’ bout a new show.”

I just saw the new pic of him and Joe with the #1 on Pistons.com. I didn’t expect the #1, but I expect him to do well for the Pistons.

And LOL John at your “New Show” edit. :-P

Steve November 5th at 12:07 pm

So apparently was going to wear #3, but the NBA said that Stuckey couldn’t change numbers midseason because of merchandise and some other issues. But didn’t Iverson get #3 in Denver when some player gave up that # for him?

John W. Davis November 5th at 1:25 pm

If someone was wearing 3 in Denver it was Andre Miller who he was traded for.

I dont think anyone was wearing that number.

Steve November 5th at 3:10 pm

Really?
I could have sworn that there was some young guy there who was wearing #3 and he was like “well it’s Iverson, he’s a legend” and so he gave it up.

OK, I found it: “DerMarr Johnson and Eduardo Najera, the only two Nuggets players in the locker room, slapped hands with their newest teammate and sat in their lockers. Iverson thanked Johnson, the team’s former No. 3, for giving up the number.”

Either way, I’m glad that he’s not wearing #3, since Stuckey is the future. Although Stuck says that he’ll switch to #9 next season IF Iverson returns.

John W. Davis November 5th at 3:31 pm

Hmm good research Steve. Didn’t they end up cutting DeMarr Johnson? lol

Steve November 5th at 4:03 pm

Well you know I try, lol.

I just thought it was odd that they let Johnson do it, but not Stuckey. Not that I’m complaining though.

I’m psyhed for tonight’s game!!!
Hopefully A.I. can play.

John W. Davis November 5th at 4:18 pm

MAybe they changed the rule. We will see in Denver if they rules holds up because J.R. Smith currently wears the number 1!

They will probably end up swapping Numbers!

Ryan November 5th at 5:04 pm

I looked up Chauncey earlier today — it shows him having #7 in Denver.

Ryan November 5th at 5:13 pm

Although my source could be completely wrong, as I’m not seeing that number on NBA.com or ESPN.

Ryan November 7th at 1:14 pm

Yep, Chauncey does have the #7.
