Pistons vs. Nets: Tonight at 7:30pm

JEEZY SAYS: IVERSON IS HARDER THAN A DINNER PLATE!

YOUNG JEEZY SAYS: "IVERSON IS HARDER THAN A DINNER PLATE!"

What’s Going on World?

John W. Davis here.  The Pistons are on the road tonight against the Brooklyn-New Jersey Nets.  Tonight is definitely AI’s debut.  I’m looking forward to it.  Iverson completed his first PRAC-TICE on thursday.  The starting lineup is supposed to be Iverson, Rip, Tayshaun, Amir and Rasheed.  I’m not opposed to Iverson off the bench but I’m pretty sure that will never happen.

Coach Curry had this to say in the Detroit News about the Pistons starting lineup and where Stuckey stands on the starter’s learning curve.  “Stuckey is still learning,” Curry said. “He has a lot of talent, but he still has a ways to go. I’ve always said, if you don’t give young guys things and you make them earn it, they will keep it.  “If you give them something, you can take it away. He’s earning his keep, and he’s earning his time on the court.”

The Detroit Pistons are 4-0 and the Nets are coming in at 1-2.  Coach Mike Curry went deep into the rotation last game playing 11 B-ballers against the Raps, so look for at least 10 players to hit the floor (and score) in the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  I expect a win against the Nets but you never know what will happen away from the Palace.

Check out this cool photo gallery of Iverson in his new Pistons duds.

*Also Rip misses Chauncey.

Peace,

John W. Davis

Everyone is on pins and needles waiting for Iverson.

It’s about how he plays not the box score.

Right!

Ryan November 7th at 1:35 pm

Will there be a live blog tonight?

Steve November 7th at 6:32 pm

haha, thanks for the shoutouts on the latest podcast!

So does anyone else think that Chauncey just doesn’t look right in a Nuggets uniform?

Anyways, I can’t wait for the game tonight! 2 hours!

So much flopping right now… and they didn’t call it when they fouled Sheed…

Ryan November 7th at 10:58 pm

Is it just me or is NBA Officiating getting WORSE?

We’re all friends of Tim Donaghy! I made 590505 phone calls in 3 months to him!

Steve November 7th at 11:00 pm

This was probably the worst officiating I’ve seen in a long time.

Harris barely gets touched and he gets two free throws.
Sheed and Iverson get mugged and the refs don’t care.

Nets win with an assist from the men with the whistles.

Mike Watson November 8th at 11:46 am

I didnt see the game but i seen dat we lost…

I also see dat Devin Harris had a career day. Is it because Iverson was guarding him? Is this the lack of defensive pressence that we were warned about? Will this hurt our chances of becoming a championship team once again? Is it all A.I.’s fault?

Somebody please let me kno something?

Ryan November 8th at 4:02 pm

I don’t see it as AI’s fault at all. AI played well.

Devin Harris also flopped a few times. When he and Richard Hamilton were running to the basket, you can’t tell me Harris didn’t flop. Hamilton didn’t even touch him, and he fell to the floor on the fast break.

The referees helped Harris out. He went 20-24 from the free throw line.

Steve November 8th at 4:40 pm

Harris was good, there’s no doubt about that. He showed everyone last night why Dallas should have never traded him.

But he did not deserve to go to the line that many times.

A few things that bothered me about the game:

Guys like Boone can’t be allowed to get 8293 offensive rebounds or notch double doubles.

The Pistons lost the rebound three seperate times when the Nets were shooting free throws and the second one missed. That can’t happen.

Stuckey shouldn’t have been guarding Harris for such a long time. Curry should have switched Afflalo or Bynum onto him.

Maxiell was totally ineffective and Amir didn’t get any burn after the first quarter even though he snatched 6 rebounds.

All in all, it was just the first game w/ AI, but the defense has to improve.

John November 8th at 6:54 pm

I saw the game…

I think AI is still a dominate player.

To be sucessful he needs to use that offensive dominance to set up his teammates for easy buckets like lay ups or dunks and not just jumpshots.

Ryan November 9th at 9:16 pm

The Pistons looked like a high school team against the Celtics…
