Iverson wants to be the “focal part on the offensive end”
What’s Going on World?
Allen Iverson has expressed a few feelings about the Pistons offense. He wants to the “focal part” of the offense.
Can you blame him?
—————————–
“I would love to be a focal part on the offensive end,” Iverson said after Detroit’s loss to Cleveland on Sunday.
“That’s where I’ve been all my career. And that’s why I play the game. That’s the type of competitor I am. In crucial situations, I want the ball in my hands. But like I’ve been saying all along: The calls they make, I trust my teammates and the coaching staff to be able to get us over the hump.”
The Pistons are 21-21 with Iverson, but he stopped short of claiming that the team would be better with him as the top offensive option.
“Don’t do that to me,” Iverson said. “You’re opening up a can of worms. I don’t even want to do that. I trust the way everything is going. I don’t have a choice. What I say don’t matter.”

I agree that Iverson should be the focal part of a team, but not this one. Don’t get me wrong, he can hoop it up with the best. And while Allen’s wearing that red, white and blue I’ll continue to support him, but I still think that he’s not a fit for this team. If you need to toss up 25-30 shots a game or play 40+ minutes a game to be a factor, then you go to a team that need someone to do that. But with the small ball line-up gone, It’s gonna be hard for him to be “the man” with two other SGs on the bench. Maybe I’m still upset over that loss on sunday. Made my superbowl party a little less enjoyable.

Yeah Nate I’m with u. Feels like we’re only renting Ivo for the season. Then he’s no more good to us. I almost feel sorry for the dude because like Dre said it’s gonna be hard for him to find a team that centers everything around him at his age.

i think we should try it tho since what they’ve been doing hasn’t worked so well, but i agree i’m looking forward to see what changes happen in the off season.

Hmm, well I agree w/ AI somewhat.
The Pistons are definitely not utilizing AI the way they should. They’ve pretty much been playing him like Chauncey. But AI’s not Chauncey.
There’s no reason for this team to not get the #4 seed for the playoffs. The Hawks are crumbling and the Heat’s roster is embarrassing.
The problem is that Detroit is playing at the 2nd slowest pace in the NBA. This isn’t 2003-2004. The Pistons need to step on the gas more often. This starting lineup should be flying down the court, not taking 8 seconds to get past half court.
AI and Stuckey should be penetrating and attacking more. Sheed should get in the post (not that 14-ft turnaround shot either) and Amir should continue to run and make great hustle plays.
Another problem I believe is a lack of a post scoring presence, outside of undersized and under-utilized Jason Maxiell. Sheed likes to shoot 3’s and do turnaround jumpshots from 15+ ft and McDyess also shoots long jumpers. When that happens no one EVER rebounds the missed shot, because the bigs are out on the perimeter.
If the Pistons use AI like he needs to be, get a post presence, and run a lot more, then they will grab the #4 seed.

They need to follow Will Ferrell’s SNL cheerleader chant and BE AGGRESSIVE!
