I think that Curry is a bit hard on Amir, especially since the NBA calls a touch foul on him whenever he gets within 2 feet of the opponent. This is not to say he deserved the starting job, he’ll need another 20 pounds before that (but I think that is easily possible with his frame, and he’s so athlethic that he can probably be like Josh Smith, except not be overpaid to suck and whine all day). He needs either to go to Europe like Will Bynum did to get some playing time or just be traded, it won’t help the pistons to have this great bench if they can’t play them especially with the 4 draft picks we have this year.

Honestly, aside from the Cavs I think we have the deepest bench due to the emergence of Will Bynum and especially Arron Afflalo’s drastic improvements (just look at the 3p%) but they need to get Amir more agressive. He should look at Lamar Odom or McDysse for inspiration. Say what you will about how dumb Odom is, but he’s extremely agressive this year.

Hopefully Dumars is smart enough to pass on Boozer, I don’t trust him for a second, especially not when Bosh is available only 1 year later. Let sheed and dice retire (dice will be a big hit though) and bring them back as assisstant coaches (kinda like what Patrick Ewing has done with Howard - just look at the improvements in his offensive game, stats don’t show everything) and pick up a solid center. Hell bring back Kwamie, he’s a lot less turnover prone lately and has been much more consistent on the defensive boards than even Maxiell. Just don’t sign Boozer, that’ll kill the pistons

Whats Up Hassani! STRONG TAKE! Your point on Boozer are my exact feelings! I feel you about Amir too. Its tough to watch him just sit on the bench. He has so much potential but like you said he needs more weight! I hope we can see him reach that potential as a Pistons especially since Sheed and Dice will be gone in the next 2-3 years.

You would never want boozer over Bosh. Just look at the disparity between the numbers. Bosh takes less attempts, has a lower FG% and yet somehow he puts up more ppg. How is this you ask? He’s a SUPERSTAR. He gets those calls because at any given time he can take you for 40 (he has not as much this year, but I think 2 years ago he was going for at least 35 each week). How often have you seen Boozer put even 35 on someone this year? Not once.

Besides that, Bosh dunks more (this is very important because the Pistons don’t dunk enough anymore and I wish Rodney would learn this because its much more demoralizing if Wade etc dunks in your face than if he makes 2 free throws), gets more blocked shots and is younger. Give him Antonio McDysse as a rebounding mentor and you’ll see him put up 25-12 consistently (his average my lower though since the Pistons are a much better team than the Raptors and play at a slower pace).

As for Chandler, even Kwamie Brown can put up 9 and 9 in 40 minutes, definitely not worth $10 million on the pay roll. Especially not since a good 6 of those points come from pick & roll with Chris Paul, watch his numbers drop down to like 5 ppg if he’s traded.

David Lee would be a much better option at center, but I don’t think the knicks are going to let him go easily, and he said himself he wants to stay in New York anyways.

The problem today is that outside of Howard, Jefferson, Perkins and Bynum there are no good true centers (Duncan is iffy on this one, he plays like a power forward but is a center by position like sheed). Think about it, everyone else really is just a very tall PF. The big difference between the two positions is whether they have a post up game or just take jump shots all day long. Yao Ming is by far the biggest culprit here. 7′6″ and he gets dunked on, misses dunks occasionally and has no post up game. You could argue Chandler is up there, but once again Kwamie could put up the same numbers in 40 minutes for much less $$$.

of course we don’t want boozer over bosh but we have no chance of getting bosh anyway. I don’t care who’s injury prone i still want boozer and chandler

umm… I don’t know how to respond to that. Sure, enjoy your team of allstars that never make it on the court so you end up playing bench players anyways

i dont know about that. but what i do know is kwamie CANNOT put of numbers anywhere near chandler. whens the last time you saw kwamie score more than, say…10 points? Sure kwamie’s a role player but you can’t even compare him to tyson chandler. Bosh won’t be easy to get is the problem. were gonna have to give up a ton to get him cause he’s an all star and we don’t have much to offer besides maybe rip or tayshaun who we can’t afford to trade.

you say kwame is a solid 9 and 9 guy more like 4 and 4. don’t get me wrong i’m a fan of kwame, he’s just not on that level.

I have no clue who joe D. will target this summer but i can tell you not to write off chandler or boozer yet no matter what their injury history is.

Either way Chandler’s still not worth $12 million. As for the 4 and 4, Kwamie plays 17 minutes a game, Chandler used to play 40 + minutes a game. Fair enough to more than double the stats (the reason why you more than double is because you’d have continuous minutes vs scrap minutes here and there) for 9 and 9. Believe it or not Brown can actually put the ball down and drive it to the hoop, he’s done on multiple occasions this year (including tonight).

Really his biggest weakness is that he flops too much so he doesn’t get legit calls that often and he needs to become less turnover prone (but a big improvement in that department this year, no doubt Dave Cohens has worked with him).

But enough of Kwamie Brown, I think a big issue right now is that Rodney differs to his teammates way too much in the 4th. Just look at today’s loss, when he had the ball they were up by 8 and he had 9 assists going into the 4th. He didn’t get a single assisst or basket in the entire quarter and rip had a couple of costly turnovers that ended their playoff hopes. Of course it would also be nice if Rodney could get at least one foul call a game for how much he gets hammered in the paint.

I just want to put in my two cents here on the whole Kwame Brown thing.

When Kwame gets minutes, he plays great basketball. That’s been evident in the past few games. He’s a big body that’s been improving in the low post, and does a good job on defense. I like the combination of Rasheed and Kwame in the frontcourt for the 08-09 Pistons because of the size and defense it brings.

Here are some Tyson Chandler stats in comparison with Kwame Brown.

In 44 games, Tyson has averaged 32.4 minutes per game. Kwame’s had 16.8 minutes in 56 games. Tyson’s at a 0.561% field goal percentage, with Kwame at 0.539. Tyson’s free throw percentage: 0.573. Kwame: 0.509.

Tyson averages 8.9 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks.

Kwame averages 4.8 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.4 blocks.

And Kwame only plays HALF the time Tyson does; think about it.

Oh, and I can tell you the last time Kwame had more than 10 points. April 4th. He had 15 points in 27 minutes on the floor, with 7 boards and 2 blocks.

Ohh and btw, last night Bosh had 25 and 15 off of 15 FG attempts with 2 blocks, a steal and the winning 3 pointer. Most importantly, 12 free throw attempts and ZERO personal fouls in 41 minutes. Boozer on the other hand, is having trouble finding his shot back after the injury.

How can Dumars be stupid enough to not bid on Bosh? Hell sign Boozer and give him and Amir in a sign and trade in 2010 if that’s what it takes, BUT WE NEED BOSH for a title run.

boozer had 20 (53% Shooting) and 13 to go along with 2 assists last night, which to me doesn’t qualify as finding his shot. and for the record i never said i didn’t want bosh I just think he’ll be hard to get.

That’s one game though, look over the past few weeks, he’s had 3 or 4 games that’s he’s looked to form and scored 20 points without needing more than 20 shots.

Who knows, maybe he has found his shot back with that game last night, but don’t be surprised if Denver’s front court manhandles him

listen, i’m not trying to compare boozer to bosh. bosh is much better. my point is boozer will be much easier to get and will come at a much cheaper price than bosh. all i’m sayin is boozer can put up good numbers and he shouldn’t be overlooked.

I like Boozer, but not to the point that it was worth trading Chauncey away for him and locking up all the cap space.

That’s why I’m so adamant about getting Bosh; think about it, this entire AI situation would have never happened if Dumars hadn’t traded Billups for cap issues. The least he could do to make it up is get the free agent best fits our needs right now, and that’s currently Bosh.

I really wonder, what would it take for Dwight Howard to sign a deal with the Pistons? Before you say he hates us, I actually think its quite the opposite. He said he looks forward to playing us in the playoffs and has consistently talked about how much he respects Rasheed Wallace. His contract is locked up for I believe the next 3 years, but even then he’ll still be around 25 or so

good point, i went to the pistons-magic game and he was really cool to all the fans. he signed autographs and was messin around with the people sitting courtside. i don’t think he hates us at all.

D Howard loves the D but he is the King of Orlando!

Honestly, I wonder what it would take to get him here? I don’t think the Magic are nearly as good as their record indicates, you never see a purely 3p shooting team make it anywhere in the playoffs, and the games Howard is on fire his teammates just stand around watch.

Perhaps a few more spoiled playoff runs could do the trick, or maybe if Bosh or another guy from the olympic team lands here he could convince Howard to come. Who knows, Elton Brand got Baron Davis to go to LA (and then backstabbed him lol)

Plus D Howard child and baby’s mother lives down there in Orlando. She was a Magic cheerleader.
