(Why) Are You Still Rooting For Chauncey?

i don’t get why we would draft a PG we already got stuckey, why not a guy like terrence williams who could potentially replace tayshaun if he’s traded for bosh. what’s the point of having to starter type PGs. even if tay doesnt leave we would have the much needed backup SF in terrence williams

if chauncey and the nuggets win the conference, we’ll be happy for our friend chauncey….if he doesn’t, that means we clearly won the billups/iverson trade, nuggets has to pay the remaining contract of billups and we get a huge cap space from it……its a win win situation for the pistons guys.

Terrence Williams is not a sure fire starter.

Jonny Flynn, Ty Lawson And Tyreke Evans are.

I think you can get someone just as good as Williams in the 2nd round with one of our 3 picks.

No, I’m not rooting for Chauncey. While he didn’t ask for the trade vocally, he pretty much asked for it by the way he’s played these past few seasons. I was happy for all the success he had while he was in a Pistons uniform, but when you put on some other teams colors, you’re the enemy. If he wins a championship with the Nuggest, I will definately burn his Detroit jersey. Besides Melo, we’ve had better players surrounded by him. Better chemistry. Better ownership. For me, it’s a loyalty issue. He played he heart out when he first got here. Won a championship, two conference championships. All-Star appearances. You would think he’d have more loyalty to a city who embraced him. Than a city that was one of many rest stops.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Joe D. pick up Ty Lawson. I mean if your gonna get a point guard then why not get the one who lead the team that won the national championship. Let him and Bynum battle it out for the back up point guard spot. And remember Stuck can always be moved to the 2 guard spot to relieve Rip. If all else fails we can look to trade one of the point guards to get something good in return because they’re all decent point guards that have the potential to shine on another team.

And as for Chauncey yeah I’m pulling for him but I know he gonna find some way to screw it up so I’m laughing at the same time.

I’m with Richard when it comes to needing an SF. Tayshaun is getting older and you can tell the minutes are whittling him down. I’d like someone with energy, maybe a slasher.

That being said, I’d be happy with no draft picks IF Stuckey would get his butt in gear.

Honestly, the young ‘blood’ could perk Stuckey up. He may feel threatened for his position in the line-up and then wake up! . . . We can only hope.

Yeah Stuckey would be great backing up Rip, he would change the atmosphere of the game with his driving and slashing ability. U go from a run around picks shooting guard to a slasher/create his own shot shooting guard. Almost like how the Rip and A.I. thing was supposed to work. If Joe D. was bold enough he would get rid of Affalo send Stuckey to the back up shooting guard (because I dont care what nobody says he’s not the “Point Guard” of the future for us) let bynum start and lawson back him up. Because let’s just be real here…Bynum is a better “point guard” than rodney stuckey.

Stuckey will add the same amount of fire power at the back-up shooting guard position as Affalo would. Maybe even more. So there’s not much of a drop off from that perspective. Only thing that we will miss from affalo is his defensive skill which personally I feel became suspect in the later games of the season. I mean honestly affalo wasn’t locking down anybody in the last half of the season.

You guys bring up some good shizzznit! I’m wit Dre. To hell wit Chauncey. He let us way down. His play over the years made him look as tho he was nearly over the hill. He was obviously saving the good shizzznit for somebody else (Denver). Kinda like ya ex-girlfriend menage-ing with the next dude, but wouldn’t with you. That’s just wrong!

I agree with Mike Watson about Bynum being a better PG.

To be a successful point guard, you have to actually try to run the offense, not just look for your own shot every time down the floor.

I think it’d be good for Stuckey to move over to shooting guard and be a backup for Rip at the 2.

As for Chauncey, I’m definitely rooting for him. I hope they beat LA and make it to the NBA Finals.

He did a lot for Detroit, but was getting lackadaisical in his play. It seemed he was becoming content because he was comfortable here, and knew everyone around him too well. The knew environment gave him that renewed spirit; I just wish he could’ve gotten that fire without changing uniforms.

People may see that as a reason to hate on him, but sometimes there’s something about a new environment that inspires and motivates you.

I just now saw Deven’s post, but as I said, sometimes when you work in the same place for so long, it may get boring (though it shouldn’t in some cases).

I understand why you guys are upset with Chauncey for not bringing these performances the past few playoff appearances with the Pistons, but this new pressure and environment has somewhat renewed his spirit; something that wasn’t going to happen in Detroit.

It’s kind of like if I ate the same sandwich every single day. I’d be pretty good at eating that sandwich. But I’d start slowing down later on when I eat it, and my stomach would start hurting when it didn’t digest right. And later on, when things didn’t go right down the tubes, I’d be a little upset with that sandwich. So when that pizza comes along, I eat that as fast as I can, and as much as I can, because I don’t know how much of it I’m going to get, and how long it’s going to last.

Really, I think he could be what he wanted if he DECIDED to set to it. When we see Stuckey put the effort in and play to his strengths we’ve seen how good he can be.

Personally, I think he’s naturally a slasher shooting guard. His outside shooting is iffy though.

I don’t see the use for Ty Lawson, Bynum and Lawson are basically the same (besides Bynum’s experience).

I dunno, I would take Chase Budinger with the 15th if he’s still on the board. He’ll finally be that backup smallfoward we’ve been looking for (I love Hermann, but he’s not rotation material). He and Turkoglu would do a great job of opening the lane for Rodney, which should also leave one the bigs open after they leave to clog the lane. Either an easy lay up or dunk, and quite frankly this team needs some easy baskets.

Or Tyreke Evans (I think that’s how you spell his name). He’s got good size at 6′6″ and it shows with his 6 rebounds a game. Also has some good assist numbers, another all around player like Budinger. On the flipside, Evans has more athleticism and some more talent but he knows it and so he doesn’t play as hard every night. Most likely that’s something that can be fixed with better competition and better leadership (look at Melo).

Regardless of whom the Pistons take, he has to have a good 3 point shot or the ability to set up others (both would be great, but I doubt they’ll be on the board in this weak draft). Don’t forget that the Pistons have a huge farm of bigs to look at in summer league play with Sharpe, Plaisted, Amir, and my man Deron Washington.

I agree, I want the Nuggets to win, but they should’ve had those games. Hopefully they’ll bounce back.

Speaking of Pau and soft, I think Rashard is a much tougher player than Gasol, and would be able to stand his ground against him.
