Gordon Denies Detroit Rumors
Via Chicago Tribune
Are we finished with the Ben Gordon rumors yet?
Ben Gordon denied rumors that his agent already has a deal in place with Detroit on Wednesday.
“You can’t even negotiate until July 1, so that’s just rumors,” said Gordon. “I really don’t know what’s going to happen.”
“One thing I’ve learned for sure in the NBA is you don’t have a deal until something is signed,” Gordon said. “Come July 1, I’m excited to see what’s out there. I’m excited with the possibility of getting a long-term deal.”

Is anyone else pumped outta their mind for next season?
Ali June 19th at 9:13 am
I wonder if this means Gordon is willing to take more years over big $$/year short term

just wondering, who scouts for the GS warriors? Some news popped up about the possibility of Ellis leaving and it got me thinking, although they don’t win very much they must have some of the best scouts in the league
Think about it, guys like Anthony Marrow, Monta Ellis, Gilbert Arenas - all gems found either at the end of the draft or went undrafted.
I’ve always wondered it, do the Pistons have bad scouts or just not make good decisions on their picks? Think about it, no disrespect to guys like Delfino or Sharpe etc, but at best they’ll turn out to be bench players. To top it off, people like Josh Howard have gone right after them (and lets not forget about Darko).
I’m not saying that the Pistons need to hit it out of the park every time, but at least get players who have shown to make a consistent impact on their team, like Glen Davis or Rudy Fernandez (not second round, but he was taken 24th and was traded for only cash considerations)

Mehmet Okur, Tayshaun Prince, JMax, Stuckey, Afflalo.
I can’t complain…

I agree Golden State has good scouting but some of that is dumb luck.
Teams that passed on my body Gil were just plain disrespectful.
Monta was unproven and very risky.
When Don Nelson leaves Golden State will prosper.

@ Ms. Tunafish Astrid:
I like your lineup.
I agree and believe Afflalo can start for the Pistons.
When he started last season he looked good out there.
Maybe he starts if we trade Rip!
Astrid June 20th at 6:13 pm
I hope so.
People don’t seem to put as much faith in defense as I’d hope. Afflalo has defense in bunches.
What I wrote wasn’t a line-up; Ali was saying we never drafted anybody good. I mentioned some. Grant Hill also, but that was too long ago.
If that was our line up, I’d be scared. Not enough power on the boards!
When’s next episode? :}

You don’t always know how the college game will transfer over to the NBA for some players.
Take Adam Morrison — great college player, mediocre NBA player.
Scouts, etc. have to do a lot with players to evaluate them, including workouts and what have you, but even then you still don’t know how their game is going to develop in the NBA.
This is old school, but to add to Astrid’s list as some great Pistons draft choices: Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, Dennis Rodman, John Salley, Kelly Tripucka, Lindsey Hunter, Theo Ratliff.
2000’s(most Astrid listed): Mehmet Okur, Tayshaun Prince, Carlos Delfino, Amir Johnson (right out of high school; he’s still really young), Jason Maxiell, Arron Afflalo, Rodney Stuckey.
Both eras mentioned have key draft choices that helped lead the Pistons to NBA championships.
____
With this year’s draft, the Pistons have the 15th pick again; it’ll be interesting to see if they can pull off another great player like they did with Rodney Stuckey at 15.

Man, i’m not in the least bit excited about signing Gordon to a long term deal. If it happens, it definitely means Rip is a goner. Is Gordon really any better than Rip? Sure, he shoots 3’s and can score in bunches, but Rip has one of the best mid range games in the L. Plus, Rip isn’t an undersized defender and offers assists and rebounds.
I say “NO!” to Gordon.
Richard June 21st at 3:03 pm
what other options do we have?
Astrid June 22nd at 12:42 am
I just bought some Pistons merchandise and I’m so excited!
John W. Davis June 22nd at 10:11 am

You all might not need Gordon because it’s a rumor Danny Ainge is offering Rondo and Allen for Hamilton, Prince, and Stuckey.
mikkey rocks June 23rd at 9:38 am
PG: Rondo (the new B.Lam)
SG: Allen
SF: ??? (James Johnson)
PF: Boozer
C: Gortat
Dumars is crazy if he doesn’t take Rondo. This dude is like a genetic freak. He blocks, dunks, steals, and display creative passes. Him and Rose will go at it. Looks like you all are back into contention. know how Detroit will embrace Rondo style of play.
John W. Davis June 23rd at 10:29 am
@Mikkey. Joe D is not trading Rodney Stuckey foy anyone other than Lebron James or D Wade seriously.
Richard June 23rd at 10:51 am
he was also offering Ray Allen but he’s old and his contract is nearly up
Ali June 23rd at 10:58 am
no way Boston gives up Rondo anyways, he’s looking like a poor man’s magic johnson. honestly he had something like 4 triple doubles in the playoffs, and they weren’t jason kidd triple doubles (10,10,10).
I like gortat, but I don’t think he’s starting material. Good first big off the bench though.
John W. Davis June 23rd at 1:13 pm
@ Ali Supposedly Boston doesnt want to pay Rondo a Max Contract.
He’s going to need 11-14 million in my opinion to Re-Up
Ali June 23rd at 5:54 pm
I can see rondo deserving $11-12 million, but i don’t think its JUST about money
I side with Mike Valenti on this one. Think about it John, how could getting Tayshaun Prince help Boston? What happens with Pierce? Besides Dumars and Ainge never actually spoke (confirmed by an interview with Dumars by 97.1).
I think this is more to light a fire under Rondo. Word is he’s stopped listening to Doc Rivers and is a jerk in the locker room. If he feels management is still in control, then he’ll likely change his act.
Besides if Ainge was serious he would have called himself and been a bit more reasonable on his request from Detroit - such as Amir instead of Tayshaun.
Ali June 23rd at 5:57 pm
On a side note, magglio plays tonight. Thoughts? I personally think he’s done and was stacking back in 2007. Seems kinda strange to have a career best year in BA and RBI when you’re 33/34, and then when the roids issue gets big your numbers tank in a contract year.
joe July 2nd at 11:57 am
THE THING I THINK THE PISTONS SHOULD DO is trade rip for boozer and if that does not work trade prince and hamilton for amare add affalo to. sice there going to get gordan and villenovea even try to trade tayshaun and get ariza or a big time scoring guy to me this should be the lineup when the season begins, nash gordan ,ariza, villeneova, and amare. thats a whole new lineup we dont need stuckey he not good like people thought trade him and other players for nash.and get amare dont you agree
