He's definitely got the same mindset and a lot of knowledge about the game. He talked about playing a grind it out style, and once the defense was set, start implementing a running game. Which, to be honest, makes a lot of sense with the line up we have.

Also for once, Joe said that "Q" will have some serious job security.

Now we wait until the first player-coach feud and see how well Q handles it.

Looking forward to seeing what he's got. :>

If he's anything like the one and only, coach Brown - I'll be happy.

John had a great conference. I really liked what I heard, he sounded just like Larry Brown. As I pointed out earlier, you guys should really look at that truehoop article titled "The Ties that Bind Larry Brown to John Kuester and Everything"

Joe, on the other hand, got owned for coach charades.

AI wouldn't be a good fit in Portland. Roy needs to have the ball in his hands to do his work and he's by far the better player right now.

Word is the Pistons are targeting Brandon Bass. I'll leave it at that.

Long time, no comment.

Wow an offseason, eh?

No more Sheed, Dyess, AI, Amir. Chauncey's gone. Rip looks like he's on his way out.

Who are these guys suiting up in Pistons uniforms these days?

All in all, I like the Gordon & CV signings. Both young, very talented offensive minded players. I'm glad Dumars didn't just throw $15 million at Boozer (had he opted out). Also glad he didn't go after Artest or Odom. Both those guys are on the wrong side of 30. I'd rather start young.

Obviously the Pistons need some more bigs, specifically someone to play center. Even if the Rip for Boozer trade goes down (which I hope so), he can't play center either.

Bill Simmons tweeted a few hours ago about a trade that would involve several teams & all in all send out Rip & Tay and bring back Camby & Boozer. I like that move since Camby is a legit center, and since Pistons needs more bigs like Boozer since Rip is now expendable. Plus, both Camby & Boozer are expiring contracts worth about $20 million, which would make the Pistons players in free agency next summer as well.

These players leaving and gettin traded left and right is starting to be alittle too much to take. While all teams go through this, it's just weird that everything just happens over one season. I wish Dice the best. I guess Rasheed too. I really hate Boston even more now. Amir... Grow your hair back, you look like a pitbull. A.I. Should've went to Portland.

It's official, Tim Duncan is about to get his 5th ring. Seriously, they've got 5 major scorers!

But man did I lose a lot of the (little) respect I had for LeBron today. I'm getting sick and tired of him always getting his way, whether that requires David Stearn cheating for him or Nike taking away free speech

McDyess just signed with the Spurs. I wish him the best, because he brought it each night when he was with us, unlike Rasheed, who did take plays off, and games off (and cost McDyess a ring with his infamous leaving Robert Horry open for a series back breaking 3 in OT of Game 5 of the '05 Finals.)

Thanks, Ryan and Ryan for seeing what I meant on the Daly comparison. I love Ali's viewpoint though, so I see where you was going with what you said.

We still need a quality big to man the 5, or we won't even get close to the top 5 in the East.

As it is, we are clearly rebuilding anyway.

I like Kuester to coach the offense no probs wit that. But imma defensive minded dude. I prefer teams that are aggresive on D. I think you guys dicussed the defesive coaches a couple of episodes ago. We need an assistant coach that's gonna take over the defense and make us a powerhouse like that dude from Boston.

What do you guys think about the future defense of the team? Sure we can win alotta games with offense (Flip Did that) but Brown won the championship with defense.

I'm always up early on monday and wednesday, I have college classes

Here's an interesting read, go to truehoop section of ESPN and look up Ties that Bind.

It's an article talking about Larry Brown and his influence on the league. Interestingly enough, Kuester also happened to play for both Dean Smith (greatest NCAA coach of all time) and Larry Brown. So there might be a reason why LB loved to have him as an assistant coach.

So even if the guy doesn't do a great job of handling egos, from what I've read so far, he seems to be great with drawing plays. Hopefully we'll have Laimbeer in charge to be the official 'ball don't lie' guy and fire up the team.

If Laimbeer could get a room full of women focused on a cause not involving chocolate, then I'm sure dealing with Rip would be a like a glass of wine.

It’s an article talking about Larry Brown and his influence on the league. Interestingly enough, Kuester also happened to play for both Dean Smith (greatest NCAA coach of all time) and Larry Brown. So there might be a reason why LB loved to have him as an assistant coach.

So even if the guy doesn’t do a great job of handling egos, from what I’ve read so far, he seems to be great with drawing plays. Hopefully we’ll have Laimbeer in charge to be the official ‘ball don’t lie’ guy and fire up the team.

If Laimbeer could get a room full of women focused on a cause not involving chocolate, then I’m sure dealing with Rip would be a like a glass of wine.

Ryan I know exactly what he said. The chances of that ever happening again are likely less than 1%.

As I said, Chuck Daily was a proven coach at the NCAA level. Kuester currently has no track records indicating he is a good head coach. Bill Laimbeer has a better chance of becoming Chuck Daily, winning 3 championships in 4 years (especially since he played under him for 10 years)

There's an assistant coach opponening, I would be shocked if Bill doesn't get the position. Especially after the Michael Curry fiasco. If he doesn't, Joe's gotta be holding something against Bill that we don't know about.

You're reading way too far into that.

Ken's not saying Kuester is anything like Chuck Daly.

He's saying that sometimes the third or fourth choice for coach works out for the best.

He's saying the same thing went on with Chuck Daly (not being the first choice for coach), so maybe we can strike gold again this time.

Ken you can't seriously be comparing Chuck Daily to John Kuester? Daily had a proven record in the NCAA, Kuester was mediocre at best in the NCAA and has never been a head coach since then.

@ Everyone. Joe Dumars has created this mess.

Its time for Joe Dumars to be the head coach until he can find a great NBA Championship level Coach.

I just sent a private e-mail to John to express some ideas I have with the coaching situation.

But with the Rip thing, it could work for the salary cap for '10. We could see if Boozer will bust his butt for that $$ or just be injury prone as he's been most of his career. If he doesn't work out, like AI this past season, we cut bait.

If he works out, then we have an interesting dilemma: do we re-sign him, or check out the tires of the other Free Agents of the class of '10?? Decisions, decisions.

As far as the potential head coach, sometimes the 3rd or 4th choice is the best choice. Remember, Chuck Daly was the third choice to take over the Pistons back in 1983, and that worked out pretty well, didn't it??

This was like 20 years ago, for George Washington University.

Judging how his numbers around that year were close to .500, I'd say it was more of a fluke, caused by lack of talent.

I'm not exactly sure whether or not to take that into consideration. 16 years is a long time, plenty of time to get experience and learn from guys like Larry Brown (who he's worked under)
