Detroit News: Rip Hamilton Has Become Distraction

Richard Hamilton has become a distraction for the Pistons, according to a team source.

He missed Sunday’s game and complaints about his diminished role have led some in the organization to wonder if Hamilton has quit on the Pistons.

“He quit on us,” one team source said. Another team source said Hamilton is acting out of emotion and should adjust.

“If I need to have a long talk with him, I will,” team president Joe Dumars said Monday on WDFN.

“I’ll see how Rip is doing tomorrow when he gets in here. Rip’s been good for me.”

——————-

Ummm… Richard Hamilton had already been a distraction.

I’m glad the Detroit News has confirmed this through team sources but die-hard Pistons fans (even super Rip fan Mike W.) already knew this.

I can’t believe that it has come to Rip having an “upset stomach” and missing the New Orleans Hornets game for people to finally question his heart.

Seriously, I just don’t get the infatuation with Rip.

I understand he was a key piece of our championship run but the day Chauncey was traded, the day Lebron James torched the Pistons for 48 points — including his team’s final 25 and 29 of its final 30, the Pistons dynasty was over.

It was just a matter of time a guy like Rip would quit.

I’ve said and type it numerous time, we need to trade Rip at all cost.

I’LL TAKE A SECOND ROUND PICK!

Just give my minutes for Gordon, McGrady, and Daye and some cap relief.

Maybe we don’t even need the cap relief…

He’s still a great player he just needs to find a new home and a place that would fit him better than this new look Pistons team.

And I hope the fans dont boo him when he comes back

I was watching NBATV last night after the Magic, Mavs game. Dennis Scott said the Rip has some trade value and that there are teams that would definately want then on their roster. While I hear on the podcast that he doesn’t have any value, maybe he actually does and we’ve had plenty of offers. It’s just that Joe D. doesn’t want to pull the trigger.

At this point, I’m willing to go maybe two more seasons trying to figure things out. With the cap room we’ll have this summer, I’d like us to actually save the money and not spend it so fast like we did in 09.

@Dre I don’t believe Joe Dumars when he says we had offers.

I think he’s putting offers out there and no one is biting.

At this point, you have to think we would take any decent trade for Rip. #justsayin

Happy Holidays everyone! Thank you all for supporting Pistonscast!

My Christmas wish list:

1. I want Joe to bring Larry Brown back.

2. I want us to somehow make the playoffs this year.

3. I want Perry Jones III in the 2011 NBA Draft.

If I don’t write anything else this year, I wanna wish everyone who listens and our hosts a happy new year. Hopefully Y’all had a great holiday.

And eventhough Thanksgivings was a month ago, I would like to thank John and Devin for keeping the podcast going. With everything you two do in your personal lives, it’s good to see that you make time for the show. You’re not obligated to do this at all, you thanks guys.

I was checking out the other NBA Sportscast and Pistonscast is the only one that’s still active. Everyone else stopped in 2008.
