Detroit Pistons 2011 Draft Prospects

So we earned the number 8 position in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Obviously, Pistons fans are not excited about back to back trips to the lottery since the Grant Hill era.

Last year, Greg Monroe was the most consistent rookie big man in the league.

This year, the Pistons have a shot to get another impact player.

Some say we’re bound to get either Kawhi Leonard or Kemba Walker.

While either one of those players, would be fine additions to the Pistons, we need to draft on upside.

Will Kemba Walker be better than Jameer Nelson?

How about Kawhi Leonard… He looks like a baby Matrix aka Shawn Marion lite.

But the only way Leonard is effective is with playing time.

Does that mean we give up on Kevin Durant lite, aka Austin Daye.

I’m not sure I have the answers but I know at number 8, Bismack Biyombo probably has the highest ceiling.

If he’s anything like Serge Ibaka, I think he would make a fine addition to the Pistons.

But some people say he’ll be better than Ibaka.

They liken him to a young Ben Wallace.

With an old Ben Wallace still signed up to play for the Pistons, drafting Biyombo sounds great, because Ben Wa Wa can finally mentor a player than can live up to his expectations.

Biyombo has the 6′9 243 pound frame to emulate Big Ben.

For example, against other 18-year-old’s at the Nike Hoop Summit, he dominated with a 12 point, 11 rebound, and 10 block, yes 10 block performance.

I’m not pushing aside Jonas Valanciunas or Jan Vesely, but if NBA General Managers could do it all over again, I would bet money Ben Wallace would be a lottery pick.

Honestly, for the right team, (the Pistons) he would have been the number one pick.

I have a friend who’s always talking about being modeled by a potential employer.

She says sometimes it better to be a raw applicant (player), and show your prospective employer (NBA team) that you can be molded into the type of employee (player), they want you to be.

I agree with her, and if you agree with me as well, Joe D, please consider drafting Bismack Biyombo aka B-Smack… well unless Enes Kanter drops to number 8 like Greg Monroe dropped to number 7 last year.

Who do you think the Pistons should draft?

Give me your scenarios in the comment section.

Peace,

John W.

He does remind me of Ben Wallace! Dude can’t only be 18.

he has impeccable timing but something tells me that the amount of hype I’ve heard about him lately may have him going earlier. Of course if the Cavs or Wolves want us to get in on this we might be chillin’.

What do you think about the twins?

Deven June 20th at 6:59 pm

Nothing about Morris twins games really screams out at me. If the they could put thier abilities into one body, you’d have a hell of an impact player. But since that can’t happen, you’re left with two guys who probably won’t ever dominate, but could definitely contribute to an NBA team.

They remind me of the Grant twins from the 90’s. Horace, primarily a defender and rebounder, won 3 rings with the bulls and was known for hitting that 15 footer from the top of the key that we see so many big men shoot now.

Harvey was a much better scorer like Marcus Morris. At one time Harvey averaged 18 and about 6 rebounds.

I’m sick of this lockout crap. Everyone involved in negotiations is already set for life financially.

The NBPA went about this all wrong from the start. Instead of just having maybe forty players attending these meetings, all 450+ players should have been attending. Players are getting more and more anxious and I wouldn’t doubt it if there’s a division amongst themselves. Those meeting should’ve been mandatory for every player, owner, executive, etc. Everyone needs to know what’s going on first hand and not from e-mails, texts, or the media. Even if they aren’t making suggestions, they need to be there. I’m sick of football. Even though my Nittany Lions are killin’ it this season, the scandal that’s going on makes my hope of getting to the Big 10 Championship game fade by the second more allegations come to surface. Let’s go NBA, I wanna see my Pistons suck it up this season.

No season… No Pistonscast… NOOOOOOO!!!

LOQuent November 22nd at 3:33 am

Dude we need a Pistonscast why not do a listener request episode? I can tell you all about my My Player in 2k12 and how well he’s doing (got drafted by the Suns and they traded away Nash and Grant Hill because of my rookie’s amazing PG skills)

Why did we sign Damien Wilkins? Are we just giving away money now.
