Iverson misses Thanksgiving (MANDATORY) Practice!
by John W. Davis - posted Thursday, November 27th, 2008

First of all, I must give thanks to one of my favorite listeners, Lil’ Richard. Thanks for the link to this big LACK OF THANKS.
There are so many places I can take this. I can joke about the Old Practice Rant from Philly. I can make reference to the new practice joke from AI’s first press conference as a Piston. I can even quote my own Practice Pistonscast rant.
I wont though, because this is honestly no joking matter. All he had to do was go to shoot around and maybe run some plays. Regardless of how hard practice was going to be, he should have been there.
1. It was a 10 am practice that was only going to last one freaking hour, giving him all of the rest of the day to do whatever like travel, watch football, sleep, be merry.
2. Again it was only 1 hour. I can do almost anything in this world I dont want to do for an hour.
3. It’s your job. Having an hour practice is better than those 3 hour Mike Curry specials.
4. The team needs practice because you guys are still nowhere close to playing as a cohesive unit.
Come on Mr. Iverson, you told all the Detroit Pistons fans that you wanted to win a championship. You told Joe D, Michael Curry and your teammates the same thing. Most importantly you supposedly told yourself that.
Be true to thine own self Allen.
Peace,
John W. Davis

The Pistons will host an open practice inside the Oakland University Athletic Center Arena from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2.
For more information, call 248-377-0100 or visit pistons.com.
Automotion, Hooper and the Pistons’ Flight Crew will be on hand.
“The open practice is a great event where our fans can come out and get a preview of this year’s team,” said Joe Dumars, Pistons president of basketball operations. “Having the practice free to the public is a great way to kick off training camp and get the community excited about the upcoming season.”
Admission is free, and doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to park in the Oakland University Athletic Center Arena parking structure or at the Vandeberg Hall parking area.
Oakland University students will have an opportunity to compete in a special contest between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. One male and one female winner will receive a $500 gift certificate toward the purchase of their books for the winter semester. OU students and faculty also will be able to buy specially priced tickets opening night, Oct. 29.

We Talkin’ Bout Practice
by John W. Davis - posted Saturday, April 19th, 2008

“Its easy to talk about, its easy to sum it up when you just talk about practice. We sittin’ in here, I’m supposed to be the franchise player, and we in here talkin’ about practice. I mean listen, we talkin bout practice. Not a game, not a game, not a game. We talkin bout practice. Not a game, not a, not a, not the game that I go out there and die for, and play every game like its my last. Not the game. We talkin’ bout practice, man. I mean how silly is that? We talkin’ bout practice. I know I’m supposed to be there, I know I’m supposed to lead by example. I know that, and I’m not shovin’ it aside, you know, like it don’t mean anything. I know its important, I do. I honestly do. But we talkin’ bout practice, man. What are we talkin’ bout? Practice? We talkin’ bout practice man. We talk… We talkin’ bout practice. We talkin’ bout practice. We ain’t talkin’ bout the game, we talkin’ bout practice, man. When you come into the arena, and you see me play, you see me play, don’t you? You see me give everything I got, right? But we talkin’ bout practice right now. We talkin’ bout practice. (crowd laughs) Man look, I hear you, its funny to me too. I mean, its strange, its strange to me too. But we talkin’ bout practice man. We not even talkin’ bout the game, the actual game, when it matters. We talkin’ bout practice.”
-Allen Iverson
If you want some more Iverson. Check out this link. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/news/2002/05/09/iverson_transcript/
Its the whole transcript of his News Conference back in 2002 when he had his practice monologue. He actually when on to say this right after his previous practice rant:
Iverson: “How in the hell can I make my teammates better by practicing?
Reporter: “So they can be used to playing with you.”
Iverson: “They should be used to playing with me. Those are my teammates. So my game is going to deteriorate because I’m not practicing with my teammates? Is my game is going to get worse? I’m asking you, is my game going to get worse? So what about my game? Is my game going to get better because other players are hurt on my team, I mean, do that hurt me? Do you think that hurts me? I’m being honest, people are hurt on my team but do that hurt me? Does that hurt me when I go out there and play 48 minutes, does that hurt me as a player? Does that hurt me if this person is hurt or that person is hurt? Do it hurt me?
