Episode 89: Playoffs??? We’re talking about Playoffs???

by John W. Davis - posted Monday, February 23rd, 2009

Will he be calling the unemployment line?

What’s Going on World?

John W. Davis here. It’s time for some drastic measures. I’ll get right to the point.

Here is the Pistonscast: Deven and John 3-point plan to salvage this season.

1. Let the young guys play every game. Afflalo, Amir, and Max need their playing time like Rip needs his mask.

2. Let AI lead. Simple enough. He wants to do it. At this point, we can’t get worse.

3. Rodney Stuckey: Don’t be afraid to sit him down to send a message to him. As super as Stuck was at the beginning of the season he is still a young player. Don’t be afraid to teach him a lesson.

Honorable Mention: Continue to let Rip Hamilton lead off the bench. Let Rip be Rip.

*Also listen to Episode 89 for a special edition of Calling Coach Curry.

Peace,

John W. Davis

Episode 82: Is there hope for the Pistons?

by Pistonscast - posted Thursday, January 29th, 2009

What’s Going Pistonscast Posse?

Rodney Stuckey

Oh where, Oh where is Rodney Stuckey’s aggressiveness?

That’s the question of the day.

Matter of fact, it’s the question of the week.

If we are going to beat Boston, we need the young Thunder Cat, Superstar version of Mr. Stuckey! Rodney, you have already proven that you can practically score at will. When you score 40 points in the NBA, you have ascended to the next level. However the next level means new responsibilities.

*Is Rodney Stuckey ready to dominate every game?……………………

Another question in my mind, is if the “new” 20 point and 10 rebound Rasheed Wallace for real? I sure hope so. He is playing out of position every night but he is so skilled that he gets it done when he wants to.

Its so frustrating but when Sheed is on, all of his past transgressions go out the window. When he is not playing well, they all fly right back into the window and bring our team down.  But you can’t blame Rasheed because we all knew he was this type of player before he came to the Pistons.

Sheed Wallace

*Are we going to get Rasheed……………

or

Roscoe?……………………………………..

These are the question in my mind.

What are yours?

The Answer AI

What’s Going on Pistonscast Posse,

This episode was recorded on Monday, January 19th,2009 in anticipation of the death of small ball.

The show is almost prophetic isn’t that right Mike Watson from Louisiana? :)

——————————-

Question of the day?

Did you believe small ball would die before January 21st or that the Pistonscast Posse would have to boycott?

(Please believe we were serious!)

Pistons Small Ball

Whats Going on Pistonscast Posse?

It’s official our Pistons Prayers have been answered. Michael Curry has seen the light and now my eyes can see the glory. The glory of beating Cleveland. The glory of beating Boston. They glory of winning the 2009 NBA Championship. Well let’s not go that far. Let’s take it one game at a time but please be thankful that Small Ball is no more and the Pistonscast Boycott has been avoided.

DET NEWS: HAMILTON TO THE BENCH!

Pistons coach Michael Curry announced Tuesday that he will begin using guard Rip Hamilton off the bench, with guard Allen Iverson and forward Amir Johnson starting.

The situation has been somewhat unsettled since Hamilton returned from a groin injury.

Curry toyed with a smaller lineup, with guards Rodney Stuckey, Iverson and Hamilton as starters, joining front-court players Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace.

Curry said Hamilton, who has never come off the bench as a Piston, will start the second and fourth quarters.

The new starting lineup will be Stuckey, Iverson, Prince, Wallace and Johnson.

Rip Hamilton says: I’m going to start!

by John W. Davis - posted Saturday, January 10th, 2009

What’s Going on Pistonscast Posse?

John W. Davis here.

Check out what Rip Hamilton said via the DET NEWS: (*Thanks Darian from the NE for the AST)

Hamilton, speaking informally before the game, was clearly not keen on coming off the bench. When asked what he thought would happen once he got back healthy, he said he planned on returning to the starting lineup.

“That’s the only option,” he said.

When it was suggested that coming off the bench might be another option, he said, “That ain’t happening.”

I HAVE A BAD FEELING ABOUT THIS ONE! (SOMETHING HAS TO GIVE…)

Pistonscast Episode 76: Is Rip Hamilton really hurt?

by John W. Davis - posted Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

What’s Going on World?

Is Rip really hurt?  That’s the question.  Check out Episode 76 for the Pistonscast theory on Rip’s possible phantom injury.  Also Chauncey Billups and the aforementioned  Richard Hamilton both make special appearances through a new segment called the “Pistons Phone Tap”.  Even with a 5 game winning streak, there is still a lot to talk about it.

1. Is Rip really hurt?

2. How do you like Amir in the starting lineup?

3. How many games with this current winning streak last?

4. Would you trade Rip? For Who?

Anything else you want to discuss, this is the place to do it!

Peace,

Amir Johnson starting in place of (injured) Richard Hamilton

by John W. Davis - posted Saturday, December 27th, 2008

What’s Going on World?

John W. Davis here.  I didn’t want this news to slip by you. (I know someone just saw the box score and said why did Amir start over Rip?)  Thanks for coming to Pistonscast.com for the scoop.

———————————————————

VIA MLIVE:

Detroit Pistons guard Richard Hamilton will not play tonight due to a left groin injury. Pistons coach Michael Curry said Hamilton initially suffered the injury at Atlanta on Dec. 21, but re-aggravated it against Oklahoma City last night.

“I kind of came down and I didn’t really know what happened, but after the (Atlanta) game I really felt it,” Hamilton told reporters. “It was like a pull.”

It is unclear when Hamilton will return, but his status is being listed as day-to-day. His absence means Amir Johnson is back in the starting lineup, with Detroit’s backcourt now consisting of Rodney Stuckey and Allen Iverson.

———————————————————

I WONDER IS AMIR STARTING IN PLACE OF RIP A TASTE OF THINGS TO COME?

Peace,

John W. Davis

Pistonscast Episode 75: AI or Rip?

by John W. Davis - posted Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

What’s Going on World?

How is my Pistonscast Posse doing. I hope you enjoyed the win against the Bulls because I surely did. Watching Stuckey destroy a great young player like Derrick Rose speaks volume to how good Rodney Stuckey really is.

If Derrick Rose is a young offensive minded J-Kidd the Rodney Stuckey might just be a smaller version of say… LEBRON JAMES!

Let me stop now before I get all excited.

Anyway, It’s very simple Episode 75 is here!

WHO ARE YOU SENDING TO THE BENCH?

1. AI.

2. RIP.

Tell us who and why?

Peace,

Starting Stuckey!

by John W. Davis - posted Monday, December 8th, 2008

RODNEY STUCKEY STARTER YOUNG STUCK/50 CENT JR: ST ST ST STARTER UNIT!

What’s Going on World?

John W. Davis here. It’s official, and now starting at Guard for the Detroit Pistons!!!! Rodney Stuck-ey!

Yup, thats the word from Coach Curry today.

MC (HAMMER) VIA MLIVE:

“I like the fact that Stuckey is running the point, and I get A.I. and Rip more in their natural positions of being able to just run the wings,” Curry said. “They have someone to create the offense for them. Stuck also gives us a guy that can get the ball to where we want to get it to.”

ALSO DICE IS BACK!

In other Pistons news, Antonio McDyess was not at practice today because all the paperwork for his contract had yet to be completed. However, the Pistons still expect to have everything done in time for him to play against Washington tomorrow night.

I like the move. I just wish Stuckey was starting for Iverson instead of Killa Kwam Kwam Brown. I think we need a Pistons A team with Hamilton and a Pistons B team with Iverson.

Can you imagine how sweet we would be?

Peace,

John W. Davis
