Top Listener Comment: Ryan aka Young Rrrrrrrrrr(ah)!
by John W. Davis - posted Sunday, April 26th, 2009
On the note of the Pistons-Cavaliers series — Rasheed is right. It’s all entertainment. The refs call NOTHING on the Cavaliers I.E. LeBron and his teammates traveling, LeBron and his teammates committing obvious fouls…
Delonte West OBVIOUSLY goaltending Rodney Stuckey’s shot — should’ve been an And 1, and he misses one free throw on the two shots he gets.
Cleveland committing offensive goaltends (tipping the ball in while it’s above the cylinder).
And don’t even get me started on the moron from Brazil.
Okay, I’ll get started.
He gets into EVERYONE’S face, TAUNTS everyone, yet the PISTONS get called for technical fouls, and the flopper (who repeatedly is flopping in this series) gets away with all the crap and is smiling about it.
Amir wasn’t going to take the idiot getting into his face - so he pushes him away.
TECHNICAL FOUL - #25, AMIR JOHNSON
He PUSHES Kwame…
TECHNICAL FOUL - #38, KWAME BROWN
Rasheed gets a tech from the bench, all the while the Cavs players are screaming at the referees at every foul they call.
“Hey, REF!!! Didn’t you go over Stern’s plans!? You call that on THEM for TOUCHING me, not ME for BULLDOZING them. Got it now? Okay, okay, I know you have to try to make the game LOOK fair, but you’ve already had us shoot 50 more free throws than them, so what’s the difference?”
Peace,
Ryan

TADOne: 5 Piston Points
by John W. Davis - posted Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Do you blame the teams shortcomings of late ALL on Iverson? Better yet, do you see him as culprit #1 of all of the Pistons issues? I don’t see it as such. Iverson is not without blame, but this has to have a chance to work.
I’ll run down a list of issues in order of significance in how I see them:
1) Curry’s coaching. Clearly over matched at this juncture. Still needs time.
2) Defense. Specifically post defense. We all knew Iverson was not the equal to Billups on D.
3) Amir and Kwame not stepping up. Sheed is playing his most minutes in 6 seasons. How is this possible? It is possible because…..
4) No McDyess. Dice has brought almost as much to the table in 4 seasons as Billups/Tay/Rip/Sheed have. This will be remedied shortly, however….
5) Integrating Iverson. YES, this is 5th on my list. Billups and Iverson are so different, they blur everything in between. How can this not be seen as a difficult transitionn?? However, if any of those top 4 could be rectified than this wouldn’t be a big issue.

Top Listener Comment by Mike: What people dont realize about Amir…
by John W. Davis - posted Wednesday, September 24th, 2008

FREE AMIR JOHNSON!!!
What 99% of the Pistons faithful don’t realize is that Amir can really score, like big time.
I know because I have seen him do it. Here is an interesting recent quote from Scott Perry on Amir from nba.com/pistons
“Amir hasn’t had the opportunity to play consistent minutes for 82 games,” Perry said. “Spot here, spot there and he’s shown very good potential. This year he gets the opportunity to play. If he’s playing every night for 82 games, what you look for is to play to his strengths. He’s extremely athletic, runs the floor, blocks shots, can rebound – do the things that make him look good but, more importantly, help our team win.
“All that other stuff – developing his shot and those things – come later. The big thing for him this year is being consistent, night in and night out. It will be his first opportunity to play the fourth game on the fifth night after having played the first three. Learning to do that, at a level that is expected of him, that’s what this year is about for him.”
——————–
Amir has definitely got the game to become a 18 - 12 guy in next 2 to 3 years. People forget that he still only 21.
