Top Listener Email: Ryan from Michigan “Postman Sheed”
by John - posted Saturday, August 16th, 2008
Hey guys,
I was just browsing YouTube and came upon this video of Sheed:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Rwb6pUTBFM
I want this Sheed for the whole 08-09 season and postseason.
Still hit the three once in a while, but dominate the post! Like you guys said, he CAN dominate down there. And if he doesn’t make the low post shot or dunk it, he can at least draw the foul somehow.
Just a little thought for the day.
PS. Happy belated birthday, John!

Look at Kevin Garnett’s face in slow motion when he’s going down from Maxiell’s block. Haha.

What’s Going on World?
John W. Davis here. The Olympics are now in our midst and you know what, I’m excited. The Olympics bring the world together if only for 2 weeks. I’m just glad they are here.
As Pistons’ fans we need to be glad that Tayshaun Prince is there to represent not only the USA but the Detroit Pistons. He is a shining example of what a Piston should be. He is a smart, efficient and hard-working basketball player who night after night, gives his all.
Check out a few pictures of Tayshaun doing his USA Olympic Basketball thing:

Pistonscast Haiku Contest
by John - posted Friday, August 8th, 2008
Whats up World?
John W. Davis. It’s time for another contest. YAH! I know right. Anyway. Since its summer time and people are taking those last minute vacations and or last few weeks before school, I thought why not, Poetry time!
Ok background time.
For those who don’t know or don’t remember, a Haiku is a Japanese poetry form. It’s got three lines and is supposed to have five syllables in the first line, seven in the second, and five in the third. Some translators and writers of Haiku, however, deemphasize precision with respect to the syllable count and instead emphasize that there is a kind of rhythm over the course of the three lines from something specific and concrete (often nature-related) to something more general or extraordinary or philosophical and then back to something ordinary again, but now seen in a different light because of the move to the extraordinary in line 2. But here’s a link to a site if you really want to delve into the intricacies of the form: http://www.ahapoetry.com/haiku.htm
Ok here I go.

PASPN.net Fantasy NBA GM Game
by John - posted Thursday, August 7th, 2008
Greetings,
The game continues into the NBA Regular season where GMs compete in an 18-week head-to-head NBA-like schedule while Agents competition is based on their clients game performance and how much they were able to make for their clients when negotiating new contracts.
The link to the site is: http://gm.paspn.net
We were recently mentioned in the Wall-street journal
http://online.wsj.com/public/article/SB121564389313240687.html?mod=sports
The game is unique because it crosses into the business of sports as it tests a users business savvy both from an NBA Gms prospective as well as from an Agents prospective. We created the game because many NBA fans think they have what it takes to be an NBA Gm, but in reality the task is very demanding. Also with the actual NBA off-season moves slowing down, it gives NBA enthusiasts an activity they can take part in while the regular season approaches.
If you would like, check out our pilot league. We are into the free agency phase of the game. Gms and Agents were officially allowed to sign NBA players

Exclusive Marcus Stout Detroit Pistons Summer League Player Interview!
by John - posted Wednesday, August 6th, 2008
Whats up World?
John W. Davis here. Check out our audio interview with Marcus Stout Episode 61.
Marcus is a Detroit native who played collegiately at Fordham University. Marcus played his high school ball at Detroit Renaissance where he was a state champion. He played with the likes of Malik Hairston (San Antonio Spurs), Joe Crawford (Los Angeles Lakers), and Tajuan Porter (University of Oregon star point guard). Basically his team was loaded and he was over looked. After getting an invite by Joe Dumars to a pre-draft workout, he was invited to play for his hometown team in the Summer League.
Marcus talks about his summer league experiences, what’s next for him and what he needs to show NBA personnel to make it to the NBA. (Spoiler: The Pistons’ front office see him as a point guard.)
Marcus also stuck around after his interview to host the rest of the show.
Our thanks goes to Marcus Stout and we wish him the best in the future. He is welcomed back on Pistonscast anytime!

HELLO PISTONSCAST!!! WHAT IS UP!!
I haven’t emailed in SO long.. my bad about that! I was just wondering on a topic .. i know its not about the pistons.. but a piston.
USA basketball!! So.. how do you guys think USA will do this year?
Tayshaun is reppin’ the detroit pistons and how well do u think he will do of doing that?
My own opinion is The USA basketball team has it this year and will bring home the gold.. from all the videos all the things they have been sayin it feels like not only they want it so bad this year that no matter what they are gonna win at all costs.. thats my own opinion..
Well I am dying in this boring summer I am so excited for the season to come and hopefully I will be happy next summer because of our world championship?!?
Thanx once again Pistonscast you are just another reason that being a Pistons fan is SO GREAT!!!!!
DEEEEEEEEEEEETROIT BASKETBALL!!!
Whats Up Darian? Thanks for the email. I think you are right about USA Basketball they do have a fire this year. They look like they want to dominate every game at every second. We will see when they play some better teams though.
Thanks for the email. We will chat about this on Episode 62.
Peace,
John
Top Listener Email: Bill from South Carolina!

I think Joe D is trying to stock pile as many good contracts as possible, so he can go for THE trade. I also think that after the Sheed trade, no one wants to trade. Just like no one will trade with the Lakers now, after they got a steal and made it to the Finals because of it.
Ok, after trading Sheed to us and us getting to the Finals in ’04, do you really think they would perform a sign-and-trade with us for Josh Smith? I highly doubt it. (Can you imagine Sheed and Smith side by side in Atlanta now? If things went different…
I do think Joe D shot himself in the foot when he announced the fire sale. I think all the teams came to him and wanted a steal, but Joe is not going to allow that. That is the #1 reason why he is waiting for THE trade.
Bill
John W. Davis here. I think Bill made some great points. What do you think? Email us at hosts@pistonscast.com.

Walter Herrmann is back…. 1-year deal…
by John - posted Saturday, August 2nd, 2008

What’s going on World?
I want the other Walter. Big Walt Sharpe. Not just because we recently interview him on Episode 60, but because we need to develop youth. Herrmann is 29. He is too old to qualify as a Bench Baby. The backup will only get 12-15 mins I think we can manage that without Mr. Herrmann. He is definitely trade bait with Kwame Brown because of their expiring contracts along another big name, high salary Piston. I see Herrmann, Brown and one of the Big 4 turning into a big name player around the trade deadline come February 2009.
Joe D is plotting…
Peace,
John W. Davis
